Who We Are
We have been discovering “What Really Matters” for 33 years. We talk straight about what has worked and what hasn't. It's good to find different tools for different times and people. We focus on keeping it real regarding having a better relationship. We are Prepare-Enrich and Symbis Certified Marriage Facilitators/Mentors.
In 1989, a mutual friend introduced us. Seven months later, we were married. There was a lot going on in our first few years of marriage that did help us start off well. Our marriage started off with brokenness and pain. As much as we have always enjoyed each other's company, the first years were rough. I (Michelle) had not healed from my lousy marriage, which caused problems in the relationship. The first three to four years were very difficult. Todd would say, "divorce is not an option," and that became our motto. At the same time, Todd didn't think we needed counseling or was embarrassed to think we did need it. After listening to a family/marriage minister, we began searching for answers. Over time, after reading books, praying, and learning, things began to change for the better.
We knew from experience that finding affordable and practical resources was difficult. It became a natural thing for us to help other couples and families. We work as a team and know God gave us this unique perspective to teach others. This is why teach not just Biblical/spiritual applications but also practical, down-to-earth tools and techniques. Thus, What Really Matters was born. We have devoted ourselves to providing practical information at affordable prices to offer marriage solutions for couples anytime, anywhere.
Michelle Wyatt
Michelle always wanted to be a wife and mom; that was her dream job. She has pursued that goal for 38 years and counting. Over the years, Michelle has been involved in the church primarily in areas that include children, youth, and women's ministries. Once her children became adults, she worked with Todd at his architectural firm. In time, Todd and Michelle discovered they had a passion for helping others in relationships. They believe they can provide other families/couples with tools to create happier homes by sharing the good and bad of their own past and what they have learned from it. And so, they began "What Really Matters." Todd and Michelle are Symbis and Prepare Enrich certified relationship facilitators. They also have a WRM small group, lead the young adults ministry at TAF, and volunteer where possible.
Todd Wyatt
Todd is a partner in an architectural firm, Lancaster+Wyatt Architects, L.L.P., located near Houston. He received a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Houston, with a minor in psychology. He has been blessed with the opportunity to design several churches. After meeting Michelle, he heard the gospel and gave his life to Christ. Along with Michelle, Todd has been very involved in ministry work in the church. He especially loved the pinewood derby with the children in Royal Rangers. A few years ago, He and Michelle took a trip to San Antonio; after spending some much-needed time together and sitting up all night talking, "What Really Matters" was born. We are involved in our church community and love hanging out with young adults.
